Couch Conversations
Psychotherapy and Counseling
Types of Therapy:
Individual Psychotherapy
Individual therapy is one-on-one therapy with your psychotherapist. Our Couch Conversations Psychotherapy and Counseling psychotherapists provide individual therapy to both adolescents and adults.
Individual Therapy with Adolescents:
Couch Conversations psychotherapists work individually with adolescents to provide mental health services for anxiety, depression, stress, academic performance pressures and peer interaction issues. Individual therapy with adolescents involves a combination of getting to know them by building a therapeutic relationship, understanding their family dynamics, examining school related issues, and other important peer relationships.
Adolescents are increasingly experiencing more and more anxiety related symptoms in response to higher academic pressures, difficulty in relating to other peers, and the influence of social media outlets. It could be helpful to have a safe, nonjudgmental, and supportive space to talk about how these symptoms are impacting them. In addition, talking about symptoms of sadness, social isolation and lack of motivation with a therapist could assist them to learn the tools and strategies they need to overcome these symptoms and find effective ways of coping with them.
At times, our Couch Conversations psychotherapists work in collaboration with the minor, caregiver, and family to provide the best form of care possible. Other times, it may be in the best interest of the adolescent to work without the family members. Are you feeling pressure from the world or at a loss for what to do? Working with a skilled and trained therapist who could guide you through those difficult times is important in getting you to where you want to be.
Individual Therapy with Adults:
Our Couch Conversations therapists also work with adults in individual therapy. Our therapists work in collaboration with individuals to identify the key issues they would like to address, to develop a treatment plan, and take steps together to work toward their goals. At Couch Conversations, you work one-on-one with your therapist to identify the stressors you are experiencing, the possible symptoms underlying those stressors, and work with your therapist to create a treatment plan for your therapy journey.
You may be experiencing a range of issues or stressors that you might want to work on in therapy. Perhaps you are experiencing work stress, going through a break up or having symptoms of anxiety interfering with your daily routine. We work with a range of ages and stressors and offer the support and guidance necessary to get to the best possible version of yourself. When you are in therapy, you should not have to feel like you are alone in your journey. Your Couch Conversations psychotherapist will work with you and collaborate with you to reach your goals.
